Welcome to my January Newsletter.
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

What a cold start we have had for 2026 and I am so enjoying the extra light in the evenings now. I have noticed though that the mornings still feels a little more dark , which makes me feel unsettled, out of sorts, like I am just waiting. So, I am really looking forward to my next Retreat Day, just a few days away, on 17th January at Hellens Manor, Much Marcle, A Winter Day of Calm and Connect. I will be sharing kindly and replenishing practices that resonate with the supportive stillness within us, that befriends and builds our wellbeing. The Benefits of Mindfulness
I always talk about the benefits of practising mindfulness and the following research article shows how helpful being mindful is for our well being.
Even if there is only the smallest door
made of stone,
with no handle,
bend low,
put all your weight into it:
it opens onto the wide expanse
of where you’ve never been,
groundless, blue, and untranslatable,
and there, just at the edge of your vision,
a single purple flower, rooting down.

Mindfulness crept into my life about 12 years ago after I completed a Mindfulness Based Reduction for Stress Course [MBSR], offered by my workplace, a Hospice. The teachings touched a need in me to want to experience life in a calmer and more enjoyable way; to find ways to be present helpfully to the way my life was unfolding rather than engage in battling with the automatic behaviours with repeating conflicting thoughts and emotions, with all the attendant emotional and physical fallouts.
