Welcome to my Summer Newsletter, sharing all things mindful.

Remembering that summer unfolds into the rich and plentiful Autumn season, I am delighted to reflect this abundance with a Three Day ALL INCLUSIVE Retreat at Hellens Manor, Much Marcle, from Thursday 19th October to Sunday 22nd October. We will explore and discover our innate healing flow and rhythms within the stillness of our heart spaces. This is a special experience in the wonderful Herefordshire venue, beautiful wilderness, and abundance of extensive gardens and grounds of Hellens Manor. How well do you deal with stress?

Life can feel so stressful and we can find that the effects of stress sit within us as habitual companions, giving us a host of symptoms including irritability, fatigue, that just hanging on feeling, a sense of unable to change, overwhelm and anxiety, impacting on our functioning and well health. The following article gives an insight on what happens when stress sits within us. Click on the picture below to read.

How do we come alongside the effects of our stressors? Understanding that we have habits of reactions that are not always helpful for us does not always help us to stop the behaviours. Learning to pause and notice the most ordinary of things/sensations in that moment such as the feel of your socks on your toes, the touch of the door handle on your hand, the melody of the birdsong, the taste of the first sip of tea, can bring us out of the conditioned, automatic habits and into now, into the next moment, out of those stress, rumination thoughts and actions. And, the release of a little bit of oxytocin, calming soothing endorphin, the antidote to the stress hormones. The following poem says it all!

Get in Touch

Mindfulness crept into my life about 12 years ago after I completed a Mindfulness Based Reduction for Stress Course [MBSR], offered by my workplace, a Hospice. The teachings touched a need in me to want to experience life in a calmer and more enjoyable way; to find ways to be present helpfully to the way my life was unfolding rather than engage in battling with the automatic behaviours with repeating conflicting thoughts and emotions, with all the attendant emotional and physical fallouts.
